The first concept that one must keep in mine is, like with many other things, practice makes perfect. The basic concept of Texas Hold’em Poker is to produce the strongest hand out of 5 cards. For Texas Hold’em Poker, the hand-ranking order, from lowest to highest is the following:
1) High Card – Otherwise unrelated cards ranked by the highest
single card
2) Pair – Two cards of the same rank
3) Two Pair – Two separate pairs
4) Three of a Kind – Three cards of the same rank
5) Straight – Five cards that are in sequential, but are NOT of the
same suit
6) Flush – Five cards of the same suit, but are NOT in sequential order
7) Full House – Three of a Kind combined with a pair
4 of a Kind – All four cards of the same rank
9) Straight Flush – Any five cards that are in sequential order AND
are in sequential order, as well
10) Royal Flush – This consists of the following five cards: A, K, Q, J, 10,
AND they must be of the same suit
