The history of Texas Hold’Em Poker

Poker is believed to have been around quite a long time. It is believed that Texas Hold’EM Poker has its beginnings around the tenth century in China. After that this form of poker spread around the world. There are different versions about the origin of Texas Hold’EM Poker and no one knows for sure which version is the correct one.

 

Some people believe that Texas Hold’EM was in existence in India, then Persia, Iran and France. It is believed that the French brought their game “Poque” to the US. This game is supposed to have spread from New Orleans in US to various places through which the River Mississippi flowed. People who learned this game passed it on to others. More refinements were made to this game during the American Civil war. People in Texas believe that the town of Robstown was the place of origin of Texas Hold them poker. This form of the game passed to Dallas during the early years of last century. A group of Texan gamblers including Crandell, Addington, Doyle Brunson, and Amarillo Slim took this game to Las Vegas in 1970. In 1979 poker became famous when the first ever poker tournament was held and during the tournament Texas hold them was one amongst the various games.

 

The more serious players of this game will only use the casino grade Texas Hold’Em poker chips. There are a number of styles and varieties of poker chips available but the texas hold’em chips are by far the most popular.
