The strategies of the Texas Holdem poker game

Monday, July 27th, 2009

If you are a poker player you must be aware of the different strategies that matter during the game. Don’t make the mistake that every inexperienced player does while playing. Do not start betting like a crazy fellow but try and consider different aspects caught up in solid pre-flop strategy.

You must first of all consider the number of player on the poker table, the strategy of the players i.e., whether aggressive or passive and above all how much risk you are ready to entail. Above that you have to see what cards you have in hand as well as the texas holdem poker chips.

You can also take the help of a pre-flop calculator but at the same time read your opponent’s activities so that you get an idea of his strategy. Do not be aggressive and go on betting but if your opponent is winning also, be patient and nail him to the wall when you have a solid hand in the game. Consistent Early Play in Live Poker

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

There are many different techniques you can utilize when playing live poker to give yourself an edge. It’s up to each player to know what works best for him or her. One such technique involves making consistent plays early on in hands. Give the following technique a shot next time you are at the poker tables.

Early on in hands, it can be easy to give other players an idea of the strength of your hand based on a larger or smaller bet than you usually make. However, if you throw out the same token poker chip or three each time, you will not allow opponents to put you on any sort of hand. Of course, if you have garbage, you should throw it away.

However, if you are committed, at least initially, to the hand, consider a nominal bet that you can make most times. It will keep your opponents guessing and take away one more opportunity for them to get inside your head at the poker tables.. This tactic especially comes in handy when you have a very strong hand early on and want to lure people to stay in.

This is only one facet of your game which you can seek to maximize your chances while minimizing the possibility of giving away the sort of cards you hold. As with every other poker strategy, the main key is still to know when to hold them and when to fold them.

Heads up at the poker tables

Friday, March 6th, 2009

Solid techniques will be useful in heads up No Limit Texas hold em poker games. In general, skill and observational techniques will have more implication as the number of opponents you are against goes down. Don’t fall into a trap of thinking that since there is only one opponent you can pay less attention to get the poker chips! This is a faulty point of view to fall into. A better point of view to adopt is that since you are against one opponent instead of a full table of eight opponents, there is actually now opportunity to try to gain eight times more info!!

Well, this could be unrealistic due to there may literally not be that much info. But the theory of gaining more information is relevant. Against one player it should even be an exercise to make sure you are looking for something to use as a reference point on every single hand. Things like paying attention to your opponent’s reactions to flops compound in importance. If you can get that one player figured out the effects to their clay chip stack will be devastating.

The basics of Texas Hold Em’

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

The first thing you should know before heading to the poker tables and laying down a bunch of poker chips are the different “hands”. Cards are divided into four different suites (Hears, Diamonds, Clubs, and Spades) of 13 cards each. Some hands are stronger than others. A set of straight of 9,10, J,Q,K is beaten by 5 cards of the same suite in a flush.

In Texas Holdem you are dealt two cards and three cards are laid out on the table, these are the “board”. There are normally two blinds, small and big, that move from place to place. This is to keep the game moving. A player has to pay the blind to get cards that round. After the first round of betting finishes the dealer will put another card out, betting will start again and then the dealer will flip the fifth and final card, the “river”.

Betting continues as normal except that at the end you compare hands if there is more than one person left. Your hand in Texas Holdem is comprised of any 5 cards from the 5 on the board and the two in your hand. After this is resolved and every last Texas holdem chip in the pot is transferred. The blinds then shift over one and the next hand begins.

Increase your poker chip lead

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Poker’s popularity has grown increasingly in the past few years. Combining both chance and skill it has easily won the hearts of young and old alike. The beauty of this addictive game is that, whether or not you have actually been dealt cards that will earn you the chip lead, you can still bluff your way to victory simply by knowing just how to do it.

Professional players will watch closely for a few rounds, studying your body language and habits. If they discover that every time you have a good hand, for instance, you flip a Texas holdem chip, this will be taken note of. This method is known as a “tell”. If another player is able to pick up on your tells, they are then able to “read” you thus giving them an upper hand in the game.

However, if you walk up to poker tables with this information at the forefront of your mind, you will be able to use their own method against them. Not only will you now be more aware of other player’s tells, but you can also consider faking signals and signs that others may perceive as a tell, only to find out later on that they have been mislead completely.

Cheating in Poker – An Unfair Advantage

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Cheating at anything in life is often viewed as a mechanism to get ahead when you are at a disadvantage, and can also be used for extra “just in case” padding when you have the clear advantage. There are obvious risks and rewards associated with cheating, particularly if done at the game of poker. At the poker tables, it can be difficult to cheat individually unless you somehow “mark” particular cards in the deck for future identification or manage to sneak a look at your opponents’ cards, which is fairly unlikely.

Cheating in poker can occur on an organized basis using a system of distractions. Players will often play with the texas holdem chip stack in front of them as a means to distract you from thinking about your move. The dangerous part of poker at the tables comes when two players are in collusion and intentionally cheating as a team.

In order to protect yourself from this, especially if you suspect something is “fishy”, you can either walk away from the table or play conservative to observe how the cheating is occurring. By chip betting in small amounts over a shorter period of time you limit your exposure to the cheaters at the table, and you should only make aggressive bets when your cards are very good.

Points to consider when playing Texas Hold’em Poker

Monday, October 6th, 2008

It is a fact that learning poker is easy but, getting mastery takes time and effort. A person playing Texas hold’em poker has to keep certain points in mind while playing his game. There are certain dos and don’ts of the game which a player should remember if he wishes to win his game. A player who is always conservative in his game will not win big amounts as he will not take risks. Poker is a game of strategy. A player willing to take risks, with their prize holdem poker chips has a higher chance of winning games rather than a conservative player who takes fewer risks.

A person who wants to win a game should always mix up his hands and not be predictable. A player that has a tendency to touch their clay chips at certain times can be susceptible to other players predicting what kind of hand they may have based on how they move their chips around. If a player makes all the moves in a predictable manner then his opponents will not have any surprise element as they will make a fair guess about his hand. If a player cannot lie well then bluffing is not his cup of tea. Poker is a game where the players bluff to mislead their opponents. So a player who cannot bluff easily should just play his game and stay away from bluffing as he will be caught with his bluff.
